• How to Measure/Order

For security and peace of mind, all businesses will require a robust and visible deterrent of some sort; the security roller shutter is the answer. Although manual shutters are still in operation, the future is the automatic shutter. Constructed from aluminium and powder coated to any standard colour. Automatic/electric shutters are operated electrically via an externally fitted key switch, and a secondary internally fitted rocker switch. For those who prefer, the whole operation can be operated via a remote control key fob. There are 4 main types of shutter: 1. Solid, total block slats - No visibility once shutters are down. 2. Pin hole/Perforated - Constructed from perforated slats, allowing around 30% visibility once shutters are down. 3. Punched slats - Constructed from solid slats but 'letterbox' sized holes are 'punched' out in equal intervals along each slat. Visibility is around 60%. 4. Grille - The ultimate visibility is obtained utilizing the 'chain link' grille shutter system, ideally suited where your shop window display needs to be seen once shutters are down. Surveying your product :

 

Installation: The shutters can be fitted to the wall, window or door frame of the property. The shutters can also be installed inside the property. Ensure that the shutter cannot catch on anything that protrudes past the brick-line (i.e. door handles, window cill)? Packers may be required to avoid this.

 

1. Will the shutter catch on anything that protrudes past the brick-line (i.e. handles, window cill)? Packers may be required to avoid this.

2. If the window/door opens outwards, will it still open when the shutter is installed?

3. Do not forget that the shutter hangs down at least 55mm into the guide rails, below the head-plates/box.

4. Always measure the top, middle and bottom within the reveal of the opening.

5. Ensure that there is sufficient room for the shutter head-plates, shutter box and shutter guide rails.

6. Decide which would be the best side for the operator to be on. If electric operated, then position nearest side to the power supply.

How To Measure: Measure the full width of the shutter (back of angles), the total height and the clear opening height and complete the options tick box below: On face-fix shutters, it is recommended that the angle/guide rails are set 75mm on from each edge of the structural opening width. If the door is to be fitted within the reveal (side fix) of the opening, the angle/guide rails will be within the structural opening. Shutter Box Sizes: Total height including shutter box up to 1200mm high: box size required will be 250mm. Total height including shutter box up to 2400mm high: box size required will be 300mm Total height including shutter box up to 2800mm high: box size required will be 350mm    The diagram shown below is for a face-fixing manual spring and lock-operated shutter	Externally-fitted shutter.
